Chi Sau Club Kung Fu is a martial arts school located in Surry Hills, Sydney, Australia. Situated within walking distance from Central Station, it offers convenient access for students in the area. At Chi Sau Club, individuals can learn Wing Chun Kung Fu, a style of Kung Fu known for its simplicity and practicality.
Founded by Sifu Mark Spence, Chi Sau Club has been providing Wing Chun training since 1984. Sifu Mark has dedicated his life to the practise and teaching of Wing Chun, with over 40 hours a week devoted to training aspiring martial artists. His extensive experience has honed his skills to the highest level, enabling him to convey complex aspects of the Wing Chun system in an understandable manner.
What sets Chi Sau Club apart is its commitment to teaching the traditional curriculum of Wing Chun with a focus on the unique internal training methods of Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin. Students are taught correct posture, alignment, relaxation, and focus to develop tremendous power, stability, and mental clarity. This holistic approach to learning Wing Chun benefits individuals of all ages and sizes, promoting improved health, posture, and personal development.
The main aim of Chi Sau Club is to pass on the teachings of Grandmaster Chu Shong Tin in an unadulterated manner. Grandmaster Chu emphasised the internal side of Wing Chun, helping students achieve “Nim Tau,” a state of mind-body connexion that enables relaxed, integrated, and powerful movement. Chi Sau Club places a strong emphasis on developing this deeper level of mind-body connexion, focusing on principles of movement rather than complicated techniques.
Training at Chi Sau Club is relaxed and casual, with no requirement for fitness, flexibility, or athleticism. Students are encouraged to train at their own pace, allowing them to feel comfortable and progress at a rate that suits them. Forms are practised slowly and in-depth, emphasising body mechanics and leverage in every movement. Practical application and the development of fighting reflexes are addressed during Chi Sau (sticking hands) training.
In line with Hong Kong style training, Chi Sau Club does not enforce uniforms, rankings, or gradings. This approach allows students to focus solely on their personal development in the art of Wing Chun. The training environment at Chi Sau Club is supportive and welcoming, fostering a sense of camaraderie among students.
By joining Chi Sau Club Kung Fu, individuals can embark on a journey of self-discovery, enhance their mental and physical well-being, and learn the art of Wing Chun from a dedicated and experienced instructor. Whether one seeks self-defence skills or simply wants to improve their overall health and posture, Chi Sau Club is an ideal place to begin and continue their martial arts journey.
