Looking for a great place to paddle in London? Check out Chelsea Kayak Club (CKC)! Located in West London, CKC is all about creating a friendly and inclusive spot for everyone to enjoy sea kayaking, no matter your skill level.
Every Thursday at 7pm, CKC members meet up at Kew Bridge for some exciting night paddles on the Thames. Depending on the tide, they head to spots like Richmond, London, Chiswick, or Hammersmith. After paddling, they often grab a drink at a local pub. At weekends, CKC organises trips to beautiful places in Wales, Scotland, Devon, Dorset, and beyond.
Chelsea Kayak Club, led by British Canoeing (BC) standards, focuses on training and development with regular courses and socials. Members get emails about upcoming events, with details on what experience and fitness levels are needed. Beginners are welcome too, with dedicated beginner sessions available throughout the year to help everyone get started.
Anyone over 18 who can swim 50m in light clothing can join. For Thames sessions, you’ll need a bit of paddling experience because of the tides, but beginners can start with the designated sessions. The club's FAQs webpage has loads of useful info to get you going.
CKC operates fairly under a Constitution and is affiliated with British Canoeing, recognised as part of the Go Paddling initiative. Based at Brentford Boating Arch in Kew Bridge, it’s easy to get to. For inquiries, drop them an email at info@chelseakayakclub.co.uk.
Interested in joining? Head to CKC’s Membership page for all the details on how to become part of this awesome paddling community. You can also keep up with news, events, and trips through CKC’s YouTube channel, Instagram, and blog. Whether you're experienced or a newbie, Chelsea Kayak Club is ready to welcome you for some fantastic paddling adventures in London and beyond!
