Hey Sports Community,
Noel Walter here from Chagford Bowling Club. We’re based in Newton Abbot, right opposite Moorlands in Mill Street, Chagford. It’s a stunning spot, perfect for our outdoor bowls season which runs from mid-April to end of September.
We’ve got a good mix of men and women players and are linked up with Bowls Devon and Bowls England. Whether you're experienced or just curious about the game, we’d love to have you join us. We offer coaching, so even if you’ve never bowled before, you can easily pick it up while enjoying the fresh air and friendly vibes.
For businesses out there, we’ve got some cracking rates for advertising on our website. Check out our current sponsors or get in touch if you’re interested.
We’ve been around since 1922, making us nearly a century strong. Our green is close to Chagford’s central square, in the heart of Dartmoor National Park. In season, we play about 40 friendly matches with other clubs, both home and away. We also take part in the Exeter and District over 60s Men's league on Wednesday afternoons from May to September.
Leading the club, we’ve got President Noel Walter (yours truly), Committee Chair Roger Butler, Captain John Keesing, Vice Captain Allen Cruse, Treasurer Paul Witting, Secretary Kay Keesing, and Fixtures Coordinator Lesley Butler. John and Allen also head up the Green Committee, looking after our playing surface.
You’ll find essential documents like our Club Constitution and Data Protection Policy on our website. Membership is annual and costs £80 for 2023. If you join mid-season, the price is prorated.
Big shout-out to our sponsors and advertisers – you can see them all on a special page on our website. If you’re interested in becoming one, give us a shout.
Don’t miss our picture gallery – it’s got albums showing our green improvements, member meet-ups, and our players in action. We’ve also got a Wall of Fame for notable achievements.
Excited to have you with us,
Noel Walter and the Chagford Bowling Club Team
