GWB Studios, the renowned Ballet club in Mile End, is excited to promote their upcoming local Ballet event. At GWB Studios, they offer the Certificate III in Dance, a top-notch industry-linked performance training program that covers a wide range of dance styles including classical ballet, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, tap, and musical theatre.
Led by highly trained faculty and industry experts, GWB Studios aims to provide elite standard training to prepare artists for success in the industry and beyond. As a part-time program, the Certificate III in Dance focuses on developing students' existing technical skills and knowledge for work in the live performance industry and the dance industry.
This one-year program can also serve as a pathway into further study options, such as a Certificate IV or Diploma qualification in Dance and/or Dance Teaching and Management. The program consists of practical performance and theory components, ensuring students receive a comprehensive education in dance.
No pre-requisites are required for the program, but applicants need to attend a private audition in person to demonstrate competence in at least one dance genre. The minimum age requirement is 14 years or school year 10.
The course structure includes 5 core units and 8 elective units, giving students the opportunity to deepen their skills in ballet, jazz, tap, and more. With a focus on dance composition, rhythm integration, effective work in the creative arts industry, performance techniques, and body conditioning, students gain a well-rounded dance education.
Completing the Certificate III in Dance can earn students a maximum of 75 Stage 2 credits towards their SACE Certificate and 20 points towards their ATAR, providing them with valuable academic recognition.
The program requires approximately 8 hours of contact hours per week, with training hours scheduled on Tuesdays and Thursdays (exact hours and times depend on electives). Additionally, students are expected to participate in a 2-week intensive in the July School holidays to present a full-length musical to the public.
The tuition fee for the Certificate III in Dance is $2,200 including GST, plus the cost of dance/technique classes throughout the 12-month period. To secure a spot in the program, a non-refundable deposit of $500 is required upon acceptance, with term-by-term payment options available.
