Centre of the HeArt, founded by Charmaine Husum, is a private Calgary Art Therapy and Counselling practice located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut'ina, the yxe Nakoda Nations, and the Mtis people of Calgary Alberta, Canada. Charmaine, a DKATI, RTC, CT, also works with clients online regionally and internationally. In addition to being an Art Therapist and Counsellor, Charmaine is also an Artist, Kundalini Yoga teacher, and trained in Integrative Body Psychotherapy, Sound Healing, and Reiki.
Centre of the HeArt provides trauma-informed art psychotherapy, mindfulness, and body-focused approaches to help clients on their journey from surviving to thriving. Art Therapy, with roots dating back to Carl Jung, is a modality that helps individuals resolve conflicts, develop skills, manage stress, and increase self-awareness. Through the process of creating art, trapped feelings can be expressed and understood, leading to deeper healing and self-discovery.
Charmaine's goal is to support clients in uncovering their true selves and finding their path to transformative healing. By integrating psychotherapeutic techniques with the creative process, clients can express emotions and conflicts that may be difficult to articulate verbally. Through personalized therapy sessions, clients can recover their strengths, resiliency, and inner gifts to truly come back home to themselves.
Believing that true and lasting healing lives within every individual, Charmaine focuses on helping clients move from surviving to thriving. The goal is to help clients reconnect with their true selves in a way that is deeply healing and freeing. Whether through art therapy, counselling, yoga, or somatic healing, Centre of the HeArt offers a safe and supportive space for individuals to explore and heal.
