Centreboard Sailing is an exciting activity held during the Spring/Summer season at Thames Sailing Club. Members of all ages and abilities come together at this vibrant Sailing club in Thames to participate in scheduled sailing events and Regattas.
These sailing events take place approximately fortnightly from November through to the end of April. The sailing sessions are timed over a four-hour period, with two hours on each side of high tide. The club's Programme provides all the necessary details for these events, so make sure to refer to it for more information.
In addition to the regular sailing events, Thames Sailing Club also organises Family Sailing Days on Saturdays. These days are designed to offer a fun and safe environment for people of all ages and skill levels to enjoy non-competitive sailing. It's a great opportunity for beginners to get introduced to sailing. So, if you've always been curious about sailing, feel free to join them on these days.
For those who are more interested in competitive sailing, the club holds Club Racing on Sundays. Each Race Day consists of at least three races, weather permitting. There must be a minimum of three boats participating in each race. All briefing and start times are strictly adhered to ensure fair competition.
On all the days mentioned in the TSC Calendar, Thames Sailing Club's clubhouse will be open, and their members will be present to provide support on the beach and in the safety boats. They always aim to create a welcoming atmosphere, so don't hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance. Additionally, club boats are available for hire on these days, making it convenient for everyone to participate.
At Thames Sailing Club, a wide variety of boats are being sailed. Some commonly sailed boats include Optimist, Firebug, 'P' Class, O'pen BIC, Frostply, Laser, Starling, Paper Tiger, and many more. They welcome all classes of dinghy and multihulls, such as Finn, NZ Moth, International Europe, Hartley TS16, and Hobie catamarans, just to name a few. Thames Sailing Club truly has something for everyone!
If anyone has any questions or would like further information about centreboard sailing, they are encouraged to visit Thames Sailing Club's clubrooms on a sailing day or get in touch with them via email or phone. The club is more than happy to assist anyone interested in joining them for this fantastic sailing event.
