Thames Sailing Club

The Thames Sailing Club is dedicated to providing excellent sail training opportunities for individuals of all ages and skill levels. Our Learn to Sail courses are designed to teach the fundamentals of sailing and provide a safe and supportive environment for beginners to develop their skills. Our experienced instructors are passionate about sailing and are committed to helping each student reach their full potential.

The Thames Sailing Club, established in 1943, is a well-established and family-friendly club located at Tararu Bay on the Thames Coast. Our clubrooms are conveniently just a few minutes from central Thames and within easy travelling distance to many popular destinations. The club is open to both locals and visitors, providing easy access for centerboard yacht sailing through a wide range of weather conditions in a large, well-protected bay.

FacilitiesThe Thames Sailing Club boasts a range of exceptional facilities to enhance the sailing experience. Our purpose-built clubrooms feature an observation deck, lounge, race tower, changing rooms, and a fully-equipped kitchen. We also provide easy access for launching centerboard boats and small crafts off the beach or boat ramp.

For those with boats, the Thames Sailing Club Marina, located at Jellicoe Crescent, Thames, adjacent to the Shortland Wharf, offers a good and safe haven. Recently upgraded, this small tidal Marina provides exceptional facilities for boat owners.

MembershipAs a Yachting New Zealand affiliated club, members of the Thames Sailing Club are entitled to YNZ membership benefits and have access to a wide range of sailing and training opportunities. Whether you're an experienced sailor or just starting out, becoming a member of the Thames Sailing Club is a great way to connect with fellow sailors, participate in events, and enjoy the thrill of sailing on the beautiful Thames Coast.
