Cataract Bowl, located in Niagara Falls, is a family-run sports complex that has been a prominent part of the community since 1955. Founded by the Biamonte family, Cataract Bowl started with 20 5-pin lanes and later expanded to 30 10-pin lanes in 1988. Originally scoring was done by hand, but in 1985, computer-generated scoring was introduced. The wooden lanes were replaced by synthetic lanes in 1989, providing bowlers with a modern and improved experience.
The lane surfaces at Cataract Bowl are made of Brunswick Pro Anvilane, featuring solid phenolic construction, wide approaches, anti-skid pin decks, and a natural maple image. These surfaces enhance scoring and bowler satisfaction, catering to the needs of both traditional and Cosmic Bowling customers. In the summer of 2018, Chris Biamonte took over ownership of Cataract Bowl, leading the centre towards a promising future with a team of experienced family and friends.
Catering to both public and league bowlers, Cataract Bowl offers a range of specials and open bowl times throughout the week. From Toonie Tuesdays to All-You-Can-Bowl Thursdays, there are options for everyone to enjoy a fun-filled bowling experience. The sports complex is open on weekdays from 11AM to 10PM and weekends from 9AM to 11PM, with varying hours on Sundays.
For those interested in competitive bowling, Cataract Bowl hosts a variety of leagues suitable for various schedules and skill levels. Winter leagues run from September to April/May, offering opportunities for men, women, seniors, and youth to participate. Additionally, the complex hosts bowling tournaments for both adults and children, providing a platform for bowlers to showcase their skills and compete for prizes.
