Pilates at my intimate Yoga studio located in Selby, North Yorkshire. The studio is built within my home and offers a calm and tranquil environment for my students. It is peacefully decorated and lit, creating a soothing and personal atmosphere.
As a qualified Yoga and Pilates teacher to diploma level reps level 3 and 4, I have been teaching fitness for over 25 years. I initially started with Aerobics and eventually found my true passion in Yoga and Pilates. To continuously improve my skills and knowledge, I regularly attend recognised workshop training courses run by both the British Wheel of Yoga and the British School of Yoga.
My teaching style is born out of my deep passion and love for Yoga and Pilates, and is calming and reflective. I believe that Yoga is a gift to be enjoyed by all, as it nurtures both the mind and body. Seeing improvements in my students' health and well-being is my main motivator. In my classes, you can expect words of encouragement, love, and enthusiasm.
I aim to guide my students towards a world of achievement and inner peace.
Yoga and Pilates are not simply sports or passing fads, but rather a way of life. I invite you to come along and experience the benefits for yourself. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced practitioner, my classes are designed to cater to all levels.
Off the mat, I find joy in reading books and spending time outdoors in nature. Walking is a major pastime for me, and I am passionate about nature conservation. I have a deep love for all animals, with a special fondness for birds. In fact, I am proud to call myself a tree hugger.
There is a particular majestic oak tree at Beningbrough Hall near York that holds a special place in my heart. While I value my alone time, spending quality time with family and friends is an essential part of my life.
My approach to Yoga has taught me the importance of taking regular moments of stillness and reflection. In our fast-paced world, creating a balanced life requires attention to detail and continual adjustment. Yoga has given me the ability to practise what I preach, and it will forever be a lifelong passion for me, both as a teacher and student.
I firmly believe that Yoga is for everyone, regardless of physical or mental capabilities. I enjoy teaching students of all levels, helping them explore and embrace their own abilities. In my classes, there is no judgement. Each of us is unique, both in mind and body, with different limitations.
I specialise in modifying sessions to cater to the specific needs of the group and individual.
While many come to Yoga as a physical practise to improve fitness and flexibility, it is important to recognise that it offers far more than just physical benefits. Yoga brings awareness to the self, the spirit, and serenity. It emphasises the importance of conscious breathing and mindful movement. It is a somatic practise, focusing on the internal experience rather than external results.
