The Caroline Stewart School of Dance (CSSD) in Lower Hutt offers a welcoming and supportive community for dancers of all ages and abilities. Since its establishment in 1991 with just eight students, CSSD has expanded to offer a range of dance styles including jazz, tap, hip hop, contemporary, and acro dance.
The school aims to provide a safe and friendly environment for dancers to develop their skills and technique. Whether students are dancing for fun or with a deep passion, CSSD strives to have something for everyone. Beyond dance, the classes at CSSD also teach valuable life skills such as self-confidence, teamwork, perseverance, commitment, and discipline.

Tap dancers can enjoy the rhythmical and exciting NZAMD American Tap Syllabus, created by Keith Clifton from the USA. Hip hop lovers have the option to choose between the NZAMD and UDO syllabi.
Acro classes, which are not syllabus-based, are growing in popularity thanks to shows like “BGT and World of Dance”. CSSD also offers contemporary classes following the NZAMD syllabus designed for students aged 9 years and up. Lastly, the school offers pre-school classes in jazz, ballet, and tap for children aged 4 years and up.
