Cannons Creek Boxing Academy

Located in Porirua, New Zealand, Cannons Creek Boxing Academy is a boxing gym that was established in 2014. With generous support from the Vodafone Foundation and the Tindall Foundation, it became the first academy to be set up outside its pioneering academy in Naenae. Cannons Creek Boxing Academy is dedicated to inspiring and empowering young people through the sport of boxing and has received support and encouragement from the New Zealand Police.

One of the distinguishing features of Cannons Creek Boxing Academy is its commitment to inclusivity and diversity. The gym is proud to have a head coach and two female lead coaches, as an increasing number of young women are finding their way to the academy for a source of wellbeing and friendship. This reflects the academy's vision to collaborate within the community and support the entire young person and their whanau (family). Cannons Creek Boxing Academy values the relationships they have built with youth, schools, community members, and the police.

The team at Cannons Creek Boxing Academy consists of a dedicated group of individuals who are passionate about making a difference in young people's lives. Paegan Edmonds-Topia serves as the manager, Ioane Washburn is the academy manager, Ash James is the assistant female coach, Hailey Collins is the head female coach, and Bruce Walton is a volunteer coach. Their combined expertise creates a supportive and nurturing environment for all members of the academy.
