Calamvale AFC, also known as the Calamvale Leopards JAFC, is a vibrant Australian Football League (AFL) club located on Beaudesert Road in Calamvale, Queensland. The club aims to provide local families with a fantastic opportunity for their children to engage in outdoor activities while staying fit and having fun playing AFL.
The key to the success of Calamvale AFC lies in its dedicated committee, umpires, coaches, managers, and volunteers. These individuals play a crucial role in the functioning of the club, and their passion and energy have a significant impact on bringing out the best in the players. As a result, the Leopards has become a club that its members genuinely want to be part of, fostering great friendships along the way.
In the 2023 season, Calamvale AFC was fortunate to experience beautiful weather on game days, providing the 7 teams, Auskick participants, and Superstars Leopards with ample time on the field to bond with their teammates. The club also organised a special club day where all the teams competed at their home ground, offering the junior and youth teams a unique opportunity to support and cheer for one another. It's impressive to note that the club has witnessed a rise in participation, particularly in the Under 8s category, with three teams competing and gaining additional players as the season progressed. The success of the Auskick and Superstars programmes highlights the club's potential for growth and expansion at the grassroots level.
One of the highlights of the season was the club's involvement in the inaugural ANZAC Day Memorial Service held at Calamvale District Park. This event allowed the players to reflect on the values of mate-ship, courage, resilience, and integrity, instilling important life lessons both on and off the field.
As the season drew to a close, the club partnered with two local businesses within the community to host junior and youth presentations, celebrating the accomplishments of the players. Calamvale AFC eagerly looks forward to their members returning for the 2024 season. Additionally, the club encourages their existing members to invite others to join the Leopards and be a part of the exciting journey ahead, ensuring the club's continued growth and strong community presence.
