Cairns Rock and Roll Dance Club Inc. is a beloved local club in Edge Hill that has been sharing the joy of rock and roll dance classes and social dancing with the Cairns community for many years. They are passionate about keeping the timeless style of 1950s and 60s Rock and Roll dancing alive.

Every Tuesday night, the club gathers for both dance classes and social dancing. It's a fantastic opportunity to learn new moves and connect with like-minded individuals who appreciate the classic dance style.

But the fun doesn't stop there! The club also organises various pop-up events and social Saturday night dances throughout the year. So, if you want to put your new dance skills to the test and enjoy a lively night out, these events are not to be missed.

If you're a beginner looking to dip your toes into the world of Rock n Roll dancing, the Beginner Course offered by the club is the perfect place to start. For the seasoned groovers out there, the Intermediate dance class will challenge and delight you with more advanced moves.

Dance classes start at pm, but feel free to come early for a dance or a friendly chat. The cost is $5 for club members, ensuring an affordable and inclusive experience for all. Non-members can also join in the fun for $10. And if you find yourself falling head over heels for Rock and Roll dancing and want to become a club member, there is a membership fee of $20.

The 2024 intermediate dance classes kick off on Tuesday 30 January and continue until 9 pm, while the beginners' classes start on Tuesday 6 February and wrap up at 8 pm. It's important to note that the dress code for Tuesday night classes is cool casual clothes and flat comfortable shoes that slide easily. Some dancers also choose to embrace the nostalgia and wear Rock n Roll dance attire for the Saturday night dances, but it's entirely optional.
