Bucklands Beach Aikido is a martial arts school located in Auckland, New Zealand. Specialising in the art of Aikido, the school offers top-quality self-defence classes that are suitable for people of all ages and experience levels. Aikido, a Japanese martial art created in the 1920s, was developed by Morihei Ueshiba, a master in classical Japanese martial arts. Recognised by the Japanese government in 1940, the Aikikai Foundation serves as the parent organisation for the global development and promotion of Aikido.
At Bucklands Beach Aikido, students will learn an effective self-defence system that focuses on using an opponent's energy and movements against them. By regularly attending Aikido classes, participants can expect to experience a range of physical and mental benefits. These include increased strength, improved posture, enhanced flexibility, improved reactions, and better overall balance. The school also offers Iaido training, a practise that utilises the Japanese sword in techniques where the blade is drawn, and a cut is made in one motion.
Iaido is not only a physical discipline but also a practise that aims to discipline the mind and body while seeking self-improvement.
The school's chief instructor, Ivan Neziri Sensei, holds a 4th-degree black belt in Aikido and 1st Dan in Iaido. With over twenty years of experience in Aikido, he has trained extensively in New Zealand and abroad, including studying in Japan with highly ranked masters. Neziri Sensei's main teachers include Nobuo Takase Shihan, Chief of New Zealand Aikikai, Endo Seishiro Shihan, and Shingo Nakao Sensei. With Neziri Sensei's guidance, students can expect to learn from a highly experienced and knowledgeable instructor who is dedicated to their growth and development in Aikido.
The school's schedule includes classes for both Aikido and Iaido, catering to different interests and skill levels. Students can enjoy classes that focus on general Aikido practise, as well as specialised sessions dedicated to weapon disarming and Iaido training. The schedule is designed to accommodate various age groups, with separate classes available for children aged 5-11, teenagers aged 11-16, and adults aged 16 and above. Fees for classes can be paid in cash, by cheque made out to Bucklands Beach Aikido, or through direct bank payment.
