Since its establishment in 1983 by Brian Nolan, a former member of the Australian Ballet Company, the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance has remained a cornerstone of the dancing community in Werribee and Wyndham. This year, the academy proudly celebrates its 40th anniversary, a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence.

Known for its outstanding results in both ballet and theatre, the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance has established itself as one of the leading dancing schools not only in the western suburbs but throughout Victoria. Brian himself is a twice Chairperson for the Royal Academy of Dance – Victorian and Tasmanian Advisory Panel, ensuring that the school upholds the esteemed culture and disciplines of the Royal Academy of Dance.

The academy's dedication to excellence is evident in its numerous achievements. The RAD examination studio at the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance is one of the most successful in the state, producing many RAD Scholarship winners, Audrey Nicholls and Kathleen Gorham Scholarship holders, RAD Australian Bursary Winners, and even the Dame Margot Fonteyn RAD International Ballet Competition Silver Medallist.

The school also prides itself on its success in eisteddfods and competitions, both locally and internationally. Its students have won prestigious awards such as the City of Sydney McDonald's $12,000 Scholarship and SODA Scholarships. This success extends to all genres, with many champions emerging from the academy in ballet and theatre.

Renowned for producing exceptional ballet dancers, Brian Nolan is recognised worldwide for his ability to train and coach students to their full potential. His expertise has attracted students from far and wide, who are willing to travel long distances to receive the best possible training. Notable alumni include Australian Ballet Principal Adam Bull, Senior Artist Valerie Tereshchenko, Soloists Laura Tong and Rani Luther, and many others who have found success in the dance industry.

At the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance, a wide range of classes is offered, ensuring that students receive a comprehensive dance education. These classes include Classical Ballet (RAD) and Vaganova-based Open Classes, stretching and conditioning, Pointe, Repertoire, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, Acrobatics, Hip Hop, as well as singing and drama. The academy recognises that strong ballet technique forms the foundation for excellence in jazz and contemporary dance, and therefore, students are well-versed in both.

The academy also offers competition classes and private lessons for selected students. The staff, who hold current Working with Children Licences, are not only friendly but also highly experienced and professional. They are some of the most respected individuals in the dance industry, providing students with the highest quality instruction and guidance.

Specialist training is available for both boys and girls who are serious about their dancing aspirations. However, the Brian Nolan Academy of Dance welcomes students of all levels and interests, whether it be for pursuing a professional career or simply dancing for fun and fitness.
