As a voluntary organisation, Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club relies on the dedication and passion of its members to carry out its important work.
The club offers a range of services, including lifeguarding, beach and water safety advice, first aid, and rescue operations. They work closely with the RNLI Beach Rescue lifeguards to provide support during weekends and bank holidays throughout summer. In addition to their safety duties, the club also actively promotes sea and surf safety through education and awareness programmes.
Members of Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club have the opportunity to participate in a variety of training and sporting activities. The club caters to individuals of all ages, with age-specific groups known as Nippers (aged 8-13), Youth (aged 13-18), and Open/Masters (over 18). These groups not only carry out patrols and provide assistance on the beach, but they also have the opportunity to compete with other clubs throughout the country. The club also offers dedicated Masters competitions for those over 30 years old.
The training provided by Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club equips members with valuable first aid and water safety skills. Patrolling the beach and promenade on foot, members are equipped with rescue cans, large red floats reminiscent of those seen on the popular TV show “Baywatch. ” On the water, specially designed craft such as malibu boards and rescue skis are used for rescue operations.
As a registered charity, Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club relies on donations and grants to fund their vital operations. These funds are used to upgrade and replace rescue and training equipment, as well as maintain first aid kits. The club is deeply grateful for the support they receive, as it allows them to continue their lifesaving work and keep the beaches of Bournemouth and Poole safe for everyone.
In addition to their regular activities, Branksome Chine Surf Life Saving Club also hosts a range of social events throughout the year. Their events calendar is jam-packed with opportunities for members to come together and enjoy each other's company. From beach barbecues to quiz nights, there is always something happening at the club.
