Boxmoor Cricket Club is a long-established “village club” located in the town of Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire. With a rich history spanning 160 years, the club has been playing cricket at its current ground, “The Oval” on St Johns Road, Boxmoor.
The primary mission of Boxmoor Cricket Club is to provide a safe, fair, and enjoyable cricket experience for its members of all ages. The club aims to create an inclusive environment where players and social members can develop their cricketing skills, expand their knowledge of the sport, and foster friendships within the community.
Currently, the club has over 70 adult playing members who contribute to the three teams that compete in the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League on Saturdays. On Sundays, the club fields two teams, with the 1st XI participating in friendly games across the Home Counties and the 2nd XI acting as a developmental side to nurture the juniors transitioning into senior cricket.
One of the highlights of Boxmoor Cricket Club is its vibrant junior section, which boasts over 100 young cricketers. Guided by 8 ECB qualified coaches, these aspiring cricketers receive comprehensive training and support to learn the game and develop their skills.
In terms of facilities, the club has a well-equipped pavilion that includes a lounge, bar, and kitchen. The pavilion is also available for hire for private functions, and on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings, it is sublet to the Gade Valley Harriers and Dacorum Running Clubs.
Boxmoor Cricket Club has achieved ECB Club Mark status, which is an accreditation given to clubs that prioritise junior development and maintain high-quality community club cricket standards. Joining a growing number of clubs across England and Wales with this prestigious status, Boxmoor Cricket Club demonstrates its commitment to providing an exceptional cricketing experience.
For those interested in visiting the club, hiring the pavilion, or participating in either senior or junior cricket, the Boxmoor Cricket Club website offers a variety of ways to get involved.
