Bournefield Animal Rehabilitation Centre (BARC) Livery is a horse boarding stable and riding school located in the heart of Berkshire, Reading. They offer top-notch facilities and services for horses and ponies of all ages, catering to both competition riders and recreational riders.
Led by Chartered Physiotherapist Megan Rees, BARC Livery goes beyond just providing livery services. Megan brings a wealth of experience to the team. With a BSc(Hons) in Physiotherapy from the University of Bradford and a Masters degree in Veterinary Physiotherapy from the Royal Veterinary College, Megan has a solid educational background. She also has a rich equestrian history, having been involved with horses from a young age and achieving great success in various equestrian disciplines, including horse trials, dressage, showjumping, and tetrathlon.
Aside from physiotherapy, Megan is also a qualified Equipilates Biomechanics Trainer, focusing on the assessment and treatment of both horse and rider. Her keen interest in biomechanics has highlighted the impact of riders' posture and asymmetries on their horses' movement, leading her to complete her APPI qualification in Rehabilitation Pilates in 2018.
At BARC Livery, horses, and riders are provided with top-of-the-line facilities. The yard is located in Bradfield, West Berkshire, and offers DIY and grass livery options. The facilities include a floodlit 26m × 52m silica sand and rubber arena with show jumps, 16 well-ventilated stables, all-year-round well-maintained turnout covering 40 acres, a tarmac trot-up area, a secure and alarmed tack room, and a rug storage room.
In addition to these amenities, BARC Livery also offers direct access to off-road hacking (permit required), 24-hour supervision, a full set of Jump 4 Joy show jumps on grass, a dedicated indoor wash-down area with hot water wash and solarium, and Nobby Woodford Lodge, a purpose-built venue for talks, workshops, conferences, and other events.
The lodge can accommodate up to 28 people and features amenities such as a projector, sound equipment, air-conditioning, and on-site car parking. It is an ideal setting surrounded by the picturesque Berkshire countryside, making it perfect for both business and leisure activities.
