Boss James Reserve has been the home of the Hampton Rovers Football Club since 1963 when they moved from Castlefield Reserve in Ludstone Street. The ground was officially renamed from David Street Reserve to Boss James Reserve in 2002 in memory of the club's founder. Located in Hampton, Victoria, Boss James Reserve is recognised as one of the top grounds in Bayside and boasts great facilities.
The Wright-Scarlett Pavilion, which is the main clubhouse, was last extended in 2002. The extension included an expanded social room, players' gym, toilets, and visitors' rooms. Various upgrades have taken place since then, including the bar and the upgrade of various older facilities. The club is currently in ongoing discussions with the Bayside City Council for a major renovation project of the pavilion in the near future.
The playing arena at Boss James Reserve was resurfaced in 2012 and is now of the highest standard. It measures 162 × 138 metres in size, providing ample space for exciting football matches. Four new 30-metre light towers suitable for night matches were installed in 2016, enhancing the club's ability to host games in the evening. Additionally, a digital LED video scoreboard was installed in 2017, providing an engaging and modern viewing experience for spectators.
When it comes to facilities, Boss James Reserve does not disappoint. It features large social rooms with scenic views overlooking the ground, a dining room with comfortable seating capacity of 150, a fully licenced bar, and high-quality home and visitors' change rooms. The reserve also has a medical room and a gym for players' use.
For the convenience of visitors, there are two car parks at Boss James Reserve with space for 50 cars. Additionally, parking is available on the outer hill for approximately 100 cars. Public transport options are readily available, with bus routes 708 and 825 stopping at the corner of Bluff Road & Wickham Road, right next to the reserve.
