Led by experienced skippers, the crew at Phoenix Charters guarantees an unforgettable day out on the water, catering to both novice and seasoned anglers alike. While their main target species are Snapper and Kingfish, they also have the opportunity to catch other exciting fish such as Kahawai, John Dory, Trevally, and Gurnard. The crew is always ready to provide guidance and share valuable techniques to maximise guests' chances of landing their desired fish.
When it comes to targeting Kingfish, Phoenix Charters is all about using top-quality Okuma gear to make the trip both enjoyable and successful. Departures for the full-day charters are scheduled at 7am from Westhaven Marina, with a return around 3pm. Private groups or those looking for custom bookings can also request amended start times to suit their preferences. The standard charters have a maximum capacity of 8 people, while Kingfish charters are limited to 5 people (6 for private groups). For added convenience, pick-ups and drop-offs are available from Bayswater, although an additional fee applies.
While Phoenix Charters kindly asks guests not to bring their own rods, they offer a wide array of fishing techniques and equipment. Primarily employing soft bait and lures, they do provide live bait specifically for Kingfish. The best time to target Kingfish is from November to December, although they can be found year-round. Make sure to mark your calendars for a chance to catch the larger Kingfish during the month of May, which is highly recommended for private groups.
To maintain the sustainability of the fish population, Phoenix Charters enforces a responsible take-home quota of 1 Kingfish per person. However, please note that fish filleting services are not offered by Phoenix Charters.
