Bend it like Bec is a highly experienced and dedicated yoga instructor and massage therapist based in Balmain, Australia. With over 20 years of personal yoga practise, Bec has a deep understanding of the transformative power of yoga and is passionate about sharing its benefits with others.
Bec's journey as a yoga teacher began in 2010 when she completed her first formal yoga teaching certification in a form of Japanese yoga that incorporates principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine to balance energy within the meridian system. She then further expanded her knowledge by studying Yin Yoga with internationally renowned teacher Paul Grilley in Singapore in 2011. This training greatly complemented her yang yoga practise and deepened her understanding of anatomy meridians and the chakra system.
Continuing to pursue her passion for holistic well-being, Bec embarked on a two-year study of Shiatsu bodywork with Andzej Gospodarczyk of Ryoho Wellness. This specialisation in bodywork inspired Bec to explore Women's Health yoga and yoga for specific conditions. She studied pre and postnatal yoga with Lisa Masters of The Yoga House and attended Women's Health yoga with Lisa Foster of Ryoho Wellness. Additionally, Bec studied corrective meridian yoga for injury and illness with Andzej Gospodarczyk.
As a testament to her commitment to comprehensive yoga instruction, Bec obtained her Children's Yoga certification from Zenergy Yoga in 2018. She incorporates these specialised skills when families join her studio. Furthermore, in 2020 and 2021, Bec completed her Level 1 and 2 Acupressure certification with John Kirkwood of The Acupressure Centre, integrating these teachings into her bodywork treatments. She recently completed Yin Yoga and Meditation training with Tiffany Cruikshank and Dr.
Rashmi Bismark of Yoga Medicine and is currently enhancing her pranayama training with Mark Breadner. Later this year, Bec plans to undertake Level 3 Acupressure training.
Bec is a valued member of several professional organisations, including Yoga Alliance, International Institute for Complimentary Therapists, and Yoga Australia, where she holds the status of a senior registered teacher. Throughout her career, she has taught yoga in various locations, including leisure centres, aquatic centres, gyms, yoga centres, community colleges, and her own studio in Rozelle.
Under the guidance of her teachers and mentors, Bec continues to grow and expand her skills and knowledge. She is deeply committed to using her therapeutic tools to assist individuals on their journey towards better health and a higher quality of life.
