Welcome to Bear Flat Cricket Club, a Bath-based cricket club that has been promoting and encouraging participation, good sportsmanship, and enjoyment through cricket in the local community since its establishment in 1982. Affectionately known as “The Bears,” the club has a rich history and is active in various leagues and competitions.
The club began playing friendly matches in its inaugural season, and in 1983, it joined the North Somerset Cricket League, where it started playing league matches. Currently, Bear Flat CC competes in Division 1 of the Wiltshire County Cricket League on Saturdays, with its home ground being The Glasshouse Academy on Bradford Road in Combe Down, Bath. On Saturdays, the club also plays in Division 6 Blue of the Somerset Monmouth League, utilising the Ken Willcox Ground in Peasedown St John, Bath as its home ground. Additionally, the club engages in friendly matches against other clubs based in Somerset and Wiltshire on Sundays.
To add some excitement to the mix, Bear Flat CC participates in T20 games against local clubs midweek. Moreover, the club takes part in the Somerset Knock Out cup.
The Bears have seen considerable success throughout their history, and in 2017, they were crowned champions of Wiltshire League Division 1. The club's home matches have been held at The Glasshouse since 2012, and thanks to the efforts of the Bath Recreation charity, the ground boasts one of the finest playing surfaces in the entire west country.
