Beaminster Cricket Club, established in 1855, is a friendly, sociable, and inclusive cricket club located in the heart of Beaminster, New Zealand. The club has been playing at the Memorial Ground for over 70 years, providing a picturesque setting for cricket matches.
Beaminster CC consists of two senior teams, the 1st XI and the 2nd XI, who compete in the Dorset Cricket League Division 1 and the Somerset Cricket League Division 7 Yellow, respectively. These teams also participate in the Middleton-Hands Trophy and the West Dorset Evening League, showcasing their talent and passion for cricket.
The club takes great pride in its youth development section, known as the Beaminster Cricket Academy. The Academy offers opportunities for young cricket enthusiasts to enhance their skills and knowledge of the game. It comprises four teams: U16s, U14s, U12s, and U10s, who all compete in the Mid-Wessex Leagues. Additionally, the club runs the All Stars and Dynamos Cricket programmes, aimed at children aged 5-11, on Thursday evenings throughout the summer.
Beaminster CC is also honoured to be a Disability Champion Club, promoting inclusivity and ensuring that cricket is accessible to all members of the community.
In terms of training and practise, the senior players have winter training sessions, known as “Senior Nets,” commencing from 1st February at Colfox School. These sessions run for 8 weeks on Thursday evenings from 7pm. Youth training sessions are held on Saturday mornings at 9:30 am in the Beaminster School Sports Hall during the winter.
The club organises an annual Presentation & Awards Evening, a highly anticipated event where club members gather to celebrate the achievements of the previous season. Awards are presented to outstanding players in various categories, including Batters, Bowlers, Player of the Year, Fielder, and Young Player.
Beaminster CC has proudly entered a senior team into the West Dorset Indoor League, with matches taking place on Sundays at Redlands in Weymouth.
