Barkly Street Callisthenics is a small non-competitive dance club located in the western suburbs of Melbourne. With a rich history dating back to 1920, the club has been providing classes for dancers of all ages and skill levels. Led by friendly and experienced teachers, Barkly Street Callisthenics offers a unique combination of dancing, singing, gymnastics, and technical skill.
At Barkly Street Callisthenics, the emphasis is on performing and developing strong, confident leaders through friendship and teamwork. The club runs one annual concert at the end of the year, where dancers get the opportunity to showcase their skills. To make things easier for dancers and their families, concert costumes are included in the club fees, eliminating the need for sewing.

Barkly Street Callisthenics offers a range of classes for different age groups. The Tinies class is suitable for children aged 3-7, while the Sub-Juniors class is for those aged 10 and under. Juniors and Inters classes are available for dancers aged 13 and under, while the Seniors class is for dancers aged 16-26. The Legends class is open to dancers aged 26 and above.
The club's dedicated teachers play an integral role in nurturing dancers' talents and helping them reach their full potential. Karly Tonkin, the Legends coach, specialises in skills-based routines such as rods, clubs, and freearm. Cheree Vella, on the other hand, focuses on creative routines like dance and aesthetics.
