John Rogers, the organiser, is reaching out to the sports community on behalf of the Aylesbury Aces Bridge Club. The club is a welcoming and local group in Aylesbury, focused on making bridge an enjoyable experience for all who attend. They are affiliated with the English Bridge Union, which means players can earn master points.
For everyone’s convenience, the club meets on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. at Buckingham Park Community Centre. John kindly requests that attendees be seated by 7:20 p.m. For those driving, ample parking is available, and a map is provided on the club's website to help you find the venue.
If you ever need a partner, the club has set up a WhatsApp group. Members not yet in the group can contact Linda on 07796 685094 to join. John and the team are always delighted to welcome new faces, whether you’re a guest, visitor, or prospective member. Please email the club ahead of your visit to let them know you’re coming, especially if you’re without a partner, so they can arrange a host for you.
Experienced players keen to join are encouraged to get in touch. If you've not played for a while, consider the relaxed bridge session on Wednesday mornings to brush up on your skills. Beginners can reach out to Paul Morris at 07956 442273 for information about lessons, or visit the club's website for more details.
Aylesbury Aces also hosts several events throughout the year. Some highlighted dates for 2024 include the Peter Jordan Sim Pairs on 16th January, Mix and Match on 23rd January, Major and Minor Championship on 5th March, EBED Spring Sims on 16th May, and Men's and Ladies Pairs on 6th June. The club also takes part in charity events like Children in Need on 5th and 7th November.
The club is proud of its success, notably winning the 2023 Sim Pairs prize at the EBU AGM, bringing home £200.
For those looking to deepen their bridge skills, the club offers a Continuing Bridge Course. Now in its second year, this course builds on the foundations taught in the Beginning Bridge course, covering declarer play, defence, and new conventions such as the unassuming cue bid. Lessons are held at the Oaks Cafe, Elm Court, Elm Farm Rd, Aylesbury HP21 7NQ, on Monday afternoons at 2 p.m. every two weeks. The cost is £10 per lesson, with the option to pay in advance for five lessons to secure your spot.
John and the team at Aylesbury Aces Bridge Club are committed to creating a friendly and welcoming environment for all bridge players. They look forward to helping players improve their skills, form partnerships, and make lasting connections within the local bridge community.
