Biography
Yale Steinepreis, a determined sprint kayaker from Western Australia, discovered her passion for the sport thanks to her grandmother, who took up kayaking after recovering from cancer. At 16, Yale attended a talent identification day and found her true calling in kayaking.
Since then, Yale has embraced the challenges and rewards of elite sport. In her debut year at the senior level, she clinched a silver medal in the K4 500m at the World Championships in Dartmouth, Canada, alongside teammates Ella Beere, Aly Bull, and Alexandra Clarke.
At the 2023 World Championships in Duisburg, Germany, Yale secured a fifth-place finish with her K4 team and earned a silver medal in the K1 200m event, which qualified her for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Competing against New Zealand's legendary Lisa Carrington, Yale showed her remarkable tenacity and sportsmanship.
As she gears up for the Paris Games, Yale expertly balances her full-time training with rigorous academic pursuits, working towards a Juris Doctor with ambitions of becoming a lawyer. Her relentless drive to learn and improve keeps her pushing the envelope in both her athletic and academic endeavors each day.
