Sienna Green
Sienna Green (AU)
Biography
Sienna Green discovered her passion for water polo at the tender age of nine, finding it to be the perfect blend of her interests in swimming and basketball, sports that were already part of her family tradition. Motivated by her parents and older brother, she quickly became entranced by the physicality and strategic depth of water polo.
Her early dedication paid off when she clinched the Australian Water Polo League title with the University of Sydney Lions in 2021. Shortly after, she captained the national under-18 team and earned her first cap for the Australian women's national team, the Stingers, in 2022. Sienna's skills shone brightly during her debut against Canada, and she continued to impress by becoming the highest goal-scorer for the Australian team at the 2022 FINA World Women's Youth Water Polo Championships in Serbia.
Sienna further honed her talents during a standout college season with UCLA in 2023, where she demonstrated her prowess both as a central defender and an offensive threat, scoring 39 goals in 29 games. Her efforts were rewarded with a selection to the Stingers’ 2024 World Championships squad.
Throughout all seven games of the Doha tournament, Sienna marked some of the world's best attackers and netted nine goals for herself. Her remarkable performance in a nail-biting quarter-final game against the reigning Olympic champions USA, where she scored two rapid goals, earned her significant praise.
NSW Institute of Sport’s head coach, Jacki Northam, has tipped Sienna as one of the sport’s rising stars, lauding her as “a player to watch … ready to unleash on the world”.
