Biography
Shayna Jack's swimming career has been nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. The talented freestyler from Brisbane first made waves at just 15 years old at the Junior Pan Pacs in 2014, where she won gold in the 100m freestyle and the 4x100m freestyle relay. Her early promise continued with a silver medal in the 200m freestyle and the 4x200m freestyle relay.
In 2017, she played a pivotal role in Australia's 4x100m freestyle relay team, capturing silver at the World Championships in Budapest. The following year, she struck gold at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast, helping her team break a world record in the 4x100m freestyle relay and finishing fourth in her individual events.
Shayna's career hit a rough patch with a two-year suspension, but she proved her resilience by returning stronger than ever. At the 2022 World Championships in Budapest, she won gold in the 4x100m freestyle relay and silver in the 4x100m mixed medley relay. Despite a hand injury, she bounced back in time for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, securing gold, silver, and bronze medals across various events.
Her dedication paid off at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, where she won her first individual world championship medal with a silver in the 50m freestyle, finishing behind world record holder Sarah Sjostrom. Shayna also contributed to three world record relay gold medals, showcasing her exceptional talent and teamwork.
Now, Shayna is fully focused on the Paris 2024 Olympics, with her coach Dean Boxall predicting great things.
