Biography
Molly Picklum, the young surfing sensation from New South Wales, has been making waves in the world of surfing with her fearless approach and unmatched skills. Hailing from Gosford and honing her craft on the Central Coast, Molly first stood up on a surfboard at the tender age of three and hasn't looked back since. Her journey through the waves began at North Shelly Boardriders, where she would surf before and after school, often racing her friends to catch the last wave before the school bell rang.
As Molly advanced, her talent became impossible to ignore. She clinched the Australian junior title in both 2018 and 2019 and was recognized as the Surfing Life magazine’s No.1 junior female thanks to her consistent performances. Her transition to the senior ranks was equally impressive, as she navigated the competitive waters of the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series.
Molly's rookie season in 2022 was a rollercoaster, starting with promising top-five finishes but ending in a mid-season cut from the Championship Tour. Demonstrating her resilience, Molly bounced back strongly, showcasing her prowess in her second year on tour. Her stunning performances included a win at Sunset Beach and a perfect 10 at the Pipe Pro in Hawaii, earning her the coveted world No.1 ranking.
Known for her daring maneuvers, Molly made headlines with a 9.67 wave at Sunset Beach in 2024, a move described as “the turn of the event, maybe even the decade” by Surfer Magazine. Her ability to push the boundaries of the sport and her unwavering commitment have earmarked her as one of the leading contenders for a medal at the Olympic surfing competition in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, during the Paris 2024 Games.
