Biography
Min Hyung Jee’s journey in table tennis began at 10 years old in Korea, where she quickly made a mark by competing at the World Junior Championships in 2003. Throughout her junior career, she participated in numerous tournaments worldwide from Taipei to Stockholm. However, she took a break from official competitions in the latter half of the 2000s.
In 2016, Min Hyung visited Australia on a working holiday and rekindled her love for table tennis at a Brisbane club. This revitalized passion saw her joining the Brisbane Table Tennis Association, and she began to compete again, capturing the Australian Table Tennis Championships in 2018 and 2019.
By the end of 2019, Min Hyung had returned to the international scene, excelling in her Super League debut. She then made her European Champions League debut in 2020 and became a regular competitor in World Table Tennis events by late 2021, leading to her Commonwealth Games debut in 2022.
Representing Australia, Min Hyung competed in multiple events at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, securing a silver medal in women’s doubles with partner Jian Fang Lay and a bronze in the women's team event. Despite narrowly missing another bronze in mixed doubles, she and Nicholas Lum claimed victory in the mixed doubles at the 2022 Oceania Table Tennis Championships. Min Hyung continued her winning streak by claiming the women's doubles title in 2023.
As of May 2024, Min Hyung Jee is ranked 59th in the world and is preparing to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
