Biography
Melissa Wu stands as an iconic figure in the world of Australian diving, poised to make history yet again at Paris 2024. Her journey began at the tender age of 10, and over the next few years, she quickly showcased her talent by winning multiple junior and state titles. By 2006, she had won the women's 10m platform event at the Australian Open Championships, earning her a spot on the Commonwealth Games team.
At just 13, Melissa burst onto the international scene, clinching a silver medal in the 10m synchronised diving at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. Two years later, she made her Olympic debut in Beijing, securing a silver medal in the synchronised 10m platform event and becoming the youngest Australian to win an Olympic diving medal.
Melissa continued her success in the subsequent years, winning multiple medals at the Commonwealth Games, World Cups, and even captaining the Australian diving team at the Rio 2016 Olympics. She returned to the Olympic podium in Tokyo 2020 with a bronze medal in the 10m platform event.
A seasoned athlete, Melissa is known for her resilience and dedication. Despite battling injuries, she continues to train rigorously and has set her sights on her fifth Olympic appearance.
