Biography
Meet Maddi Keeney, a force to be reckoned with on the diving platform. Maddi's journey through the sport has been marked by a blend of raw power and artistry, redefining the standards of elite diving over the last decade.
Originally from New Zealand, Maddi made her way to Australia and quickly distinguished herself in the diving scene. Her dynamic partnership with Anabelle Smith has resulted in numerous accolades, including Olympic, Commonwealth, and world championship medals. Maddi burst onto the scene with a silver medal in the 1m springboard at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games and continued to shine, capturing bronze alongside Anabelle in the 3m synchro event.
In 2016, Maddi made her Olympic debut in Rio, bringing home a bronze medal in the 3m synchro with Anabelle. Their final dive catapulted them from fifth to the podium, a testament to their skill and poise under pressure.
Following a brief setback missing the Tokyo Olympics due to COVID-19 related qualification issues, Maddi roared back with double gold medals at the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Her recent collaborations, including a successful partnership with Domonic Bedggood, led to a gold in the mixed 3m synchro at the 2024 World Championships in Doha—an event where she also snagged silver in the 3m synchronised springboard with Anabelle.
Maddi balances her diving prowess with academic achievements, holding a degree in physics and computer science from the University of Queensland. Off the platform, she applies the same dedication and precision in her role at a major insurance company in Brisbane.
