Biography
Lewis Clareburt, often known simply as Lewis in the swimming world, is a rising star hailing from Wellington, New Zealand. With a remarkable track record that includes being a swimming World Champion, Olympic finalist, and a four-time Commonwealth Games medallist, Lewis has proven himself to be a force to be reckoned with in the pool. His journey to success began in 2017 at the Bahamas Commonwealth Youth Games, where he astounded spectators by clinching seven medals. This early display of talent set the stage for Lewis's future triumphs on the international swimming scene. One of his most memorable achievements came at the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, where he showcased his prowess by securing two gold medals in the 400m Individual Medley and 200m fly, along with a bronze medal in the 200m IM. His stellar performance not only brought glory to himself but also set the tone for the entire New Zealand swim team which collectively won nine medals. A true hometown hero, Lewis was coached by the renowned Gary Hollywood in Wellington before making a strategic move to Auckland in 2024 to work with the esteemed Mitch Nairn.
