Biography
Kyle Lee, representing Australia, is a marathon swimmer making waves on the international stage. Born in Harare, Zimbabwe, Kyle and his family moved to Australia when he was just six years old, settling in the small town of Australind in Western Australia. His journey in open water swimming started early, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already competing at a high level.
Kyle's breakout moment came at the World Championships in Doha in February 2024, where, a day after an accountancy exam, he delivered a nail-biting finish to clinch victory for Australia in the mixed 4x1500m relay. His performance in the 10km race, where he finished ninth, secured his spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics.
Training under coach Ian Mills at North Coast Swimming Club, Kyle has shown remarkable consistency and improvement over the years. His achievements include winning the Rottnest Channel Swim in 2022 and a series of strong performances at the World Aquatics Championships and the Marathon Swim World Series.
Balancing his rigorous training schedule with his studies, Kyle is pursuing a bachelor of commerce at the University of Western Australia. He swims up to 70km a week in training, showcasing his dedication and passion for the sport. Kyle Lee is undoubtedly a name to watch in the world of open water swimming as he heads to Paris 2024.
