Biography
Kyle Bruce embarked on his weightlifting journey in 2015, eager to embrace a new challenge. By 2018, he had founded the Uplift Weightlifting Gym in Sydney, where he continues to coach alongside Isabel Lorenzi.
Kyle's passion and commitment to weightlifting were evident from a young age. At 17, he made his international debut representing Australia. To support his training, he juggled school and a part-time job at a pizza chain, using his earnings to fund his gym membership at Zubin Weightlifting Club.
Kyle's dedication bore fruit quickly. By 2021, he had secured a silver medal at the Commonwealth Championships in Tashkent and achieved personal bests in the 81kg category with a 182kg clean & jerk and a 149kg snatch.
A standout moment in Kyle's career came during the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where he won a silver medal in the men’s 81kg, dedicating it to his late father. Though a video review later altered his initial gold medal lift, Kyle's performance was nothing short of remarkable.
Kyle continued to impress at the IWF World Cup 2024 in Phuket, topping the Oceania rankings for the Paris Olympic qualifiers in the men’s 89kg category with a total lift of 336kg. His journey exemplifies resilience, hard work, and an unyielding passion for weightlifting.
