Joshua Bell (AU)
Biography
Growing up in Camden, near Sydney, Joshua Bell's passion for shooting was sparked by his father. It was a shared hobby that turned into a full-blown career for Joshua, who enjoyed spending quality time with his dad while mastering the art of skeet shooting. Using shotguns, they aimed to shatter clay targets, a skill Joshua honed remarkably well.
Joshua's talent was evident early on when he won the B grade at the 2011 NSW Skeet Carnival, catching the community's eye. Balancing a career as a plumber in construction and his love for shooting, Joshua's dedication paid off when he made his first world championship team in 2023. That same year, he secured his spot for the Paris Olympics with consistent performances on the World Cup circuit.
In 2023, Joshua shone at the Oceania Championships, winning silver in the men’s skeet and clinching the men’s skeet team event alongside Frank Morris and Elie Lahoud. His achievements didn't stop there. In May 2024, he teamed up with Aislin Jones to win a bronze medal in the mixed skeet team event at the World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan. This accolade was a historic first for Australia in a skeet team event at an ISSF World Cup.
Inspired by the grace and humility of Swiss tennis legend Roger Federer, Joshua aims to mirror these qualities in his own life. He admires Federer not just for his on-court prowess but also for his demeanor as a gentleman, father, and husband. Joshua's grounded approach and relentless pursuit of excellence make him a standout athlete in the world of shooting sports.
