Biography
Jessica Sevick is a resilient Canadian rower who has overcome significant challenges to achieve success in the sport. Her journey in rowing began in 2016 at the Calgary Rowing Club after a suggestion from her physiotherapist. Despite a late start at the age of 26, she quickly made a mark in the sport. Sevick faced a major setback at the age of 12 during a luge training run that resulted in a severe traumatic brain injury. The road to recovery was long and arduous, but she defied the odds and continued pursuing her passion for rowing. Her transition to the women’s eight in 2022 proved fruitful with multiple medals in prestigious events. Beyond rowing, Jessica is a multidimensional individual with interests in mountain biking, alpine skiing, camping, and reading. She holds a degree in Civil-Biomedical Engineering and has studied neuroscience. Notably, she supports initiatives like Fast and Female and Love Your Brain. In her spare time, Jessica draws inspiration from the perseverance of athletes like Catriona Le May Doan and lives by the motto "Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose". Her standout performances and unwavering determination make her a true role model in the Canadian sporting landscape.
