Jason Day
Jason Day (AU)
Biography
Jason Day's golfing journey began in a rather unconventional way — with a battered three-wood his father salvaged from a local rubbish tip. Swinging that old club for the first time as a six-year-old in Beaudesert, QLD, Jason found his calling on the greens. Fast forward to 2000, and Jason had already clinched his first major junior victory at the Australian Masters junior event on the Gold Coast.
Turning professional in 2006 at just 19, Jason’s star began to rise rapidly. His first pro win came the next year on the Nationwide Tour, foreshadowing a successful PGA Tour career. Jason’s maiden PGA Tour victory in 2010 at the Byron Nelson Championship set the stage for even greater achievements.
A significant milestone came in 2015 when Jason won his first Major at the PGA Championship with a record-breaking 20 under par. That year marked his entry into the elite echelons of golf with several victories and the prestigious #1 PGA World Ranking.
Despite a temporary decline due to injuries and form issues, Jason made a remarkable comeback, claiming his most recent PGA Tour win in 2023 at the Byron Nelson Championship, ending a five-year drought.
As he eyes the Paris 2024 Olympics, Jason aims to don the green and gold for Australia, adding another chapter to his illustrious career. With 13 PGA Tour wins and having earned $59 million to date, Jason Day stands as a testament to determination and passion in the world of golf.
