Biography
Harriet Hudson, hailing from Toowoomba, Queensland, discovered her passion for rowing during her time as a boarding school student in Brisbane. With an ambition to advance in the sport, she moved to Sydney post-secondary education and joined the Sydney Rowing Club, all while pursuing her studies at Sydney University. Her hard work paid off when she earned her spot on the Australian Rowing Team at the 2016 Junior Championships, marking her entry into the competitive world of rowing.
Over the years, Harriet showcased her prowess with consistent performances, including silver medals at the U23 World Championships in 2017 and 2019. Returning to Sydney, she trained under renowned coaches at Rowing Australia's National Training Centre, honing her skills and preparing for the highest levels of competition.
Harriet made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Games, rowing in the women's quadruple scull event. Together with her crew, she clinched a bronze medal in a thrilling final, overcoming initial challenges and showcasing incredible determination. The team’s journey to the medal included a tense repechage and a powerful finish in the final race, cementing their place on the podium.
As she sets her sights on Paris 2024, Harriet partners with Amanda Bateman in the women's double sculls. Their impressive performance, highlighted by a silver medal at the World Rowing Cup II in Lucerne, Switzerland, signals a promising future. With narrow margins separating them from the top spot, Harriet and Amanda continue to strive for excellence, aiming for gold in the upcoming Olympics.
