Biography
Flynn Southam is making quite the splash in the world of competitive swimming. Hailing from the northern rivers of New South Wales, Flynn rose to prominence between 2020 and 2022 when he shattered age-group records held by Australian swimming legends like Kyle Chalmers and Cameron McEvoy. At just 19, this young swimmer has already amassed an impressive collection of accolades.
In his breakout year of 2021, Flynn captured six gold medals at the Australian Age Championships, dominating events like the 100m and 200m freestyle, as well as the 200m backstroke. His stellar performances earned him a spot on the Australian swim team for the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, where he snagged gold medals in both the men’s and mixed 4x100m freestyle relays.
Continuing his golden streak, Flynn clinched four first-place finishes at the 2022 Junior Pan Pac Championships and topped it off with remarkable displays at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. Here, he added more gold and bronze medals to his growing collection.
