Biography
Cassiel Rousseau has swiftly risen through the ranks to become a world-class diver, despite only transitioning from gymnastics to diving as a teenager. Born in South Brisbane, Queensland, Cassiel initially made his mark in acrobatic gymnastics, training at the Robertson Gymnastics Academy. At 16, he decided to try diving, a sport he had little experience with. Overcoming his initial fear, he quickly demonstrated his natural talent, besting more seasoned competitors at national junior events.
His persistence paid off when he debuted on the FINA Circuit at 18, showing strong performances in international competitions. Cassiel's first Olympic appearance came at Tokyo 2020, where he reached the final and finished eighth in the men's 10m platform. In 2022, he dazzled at the Commonwealth Games, securing gold in the men's 10m individual dive and two bronze medals in synchronised events.
The pinnacle of his career so far came in 2023 at the World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, where he clinched gold in the men's 10m platform. Cassiel's journey is marked by his unwavering dedication and the influence of his family, who share his passion for elite sports.
