Biography
Carolyn Rayna Buckle has been making waves in the world of artistic swimming since the age of 15. Born in Singapore to a diverse heritage of a Singaporean mother and an Australian father, she grew up with a blend of cultures that has shaped her unique identity and competitive spirit.
Her journey in artistic swimming began with a notable performance at the 2015 FINA World Artistic Swimming Championships. Competing for Singapore, Carolyn was part of the team that secured a top-20 finish. Over the years, she continued to showcase her talents at international events, including the 2019 FINA World Championships in Korea and FINA’s World Series in Japan.
In 2020, Carolyn transitioned to representing Australia, enrolling at Sydney University for a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physiotherapy and joining the Sydney Emeralds. Her Olympic debut came at the Tokyo 2020 Games, where she played a pivotal role in the Australian team's impressive ninth-place finish.
At the 2023 Aquatics World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, Carolyn and her teammates achieved historic milestones, with her technical team qualifying for the world championships team final for the first time since 2007 and her duet with Kiera Gazzard finishing in the top 20.
Balancing her athletic career, Carolyn is also pursuing dental health science at Griffith University on the Gold Coast, demonstrating her dedication both in and out of the water.
