Biography
Abbey Connor is an emerging talent in the swimming world, hailing from Campsie, New South Wales, Australia. At the young age of 15, she shattered a long-standing 200m butterfly age record in 2021 that had been set by Michelle Ford in 1978, clocking an impressive 2:12.60. This feat marked the beginning of her rise in the competitive swimming scene.
In 2022, Abbey made her mark internationally when she competed in the World Junior Open Water Championships in the Seychelles. While still balancing her school commitments, she showcased her freestyle and butterfly skills at the World Championships in Hungary and at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games, where she posted a personal best of 2:08.36 in the 200m butterfly, narrowly missing out on a podium finish.
The following year, Abbey continued to impress at the 2023 World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, and later at the 2024 Australian Championships, where she secured third place in the 200m butterfly and reached the final in the 400m freestyle. Her consistent performance paid off when she clinched a spot on the Australian Olympic team by finishing second in the 200m butterfly at the Australian trials in Brisbane, recording a new personal best of 2:06.82.
