Experience the traditional Japanese art of Atarashii Naginata at the JCCC Naginata Club. Learn the history and techniques of the naginata, a Japanese polearm that dates back to the 7th Century. Under the guidance of experienced instructors like Kaori Kubo, Susan Davis, Tomas Almonte, and Jordan Macklem, participants will have the opportunity to practice the modern sport form of Atarashii Naginata. Students can also delve into the classical art of Tendo-ryu naginatajutsu, which dates back to the late 1500s.
Monthly out-of-town practices and an annual week-long seminar in June offer unique learning experiences for those interested in Tendo-ryu. The JCCC Naginata Club welcomes beginners with a limited supply of naginatas, but as students progress, they will need to obtain their equipment and cover additional costs related to participation in seminars, tournaments, and promotion tests. Join today to become a part of the Canadian Naginata community!
