Club History Established in 1880, Ardeer Golf Club is one of the oldest golf clubs in Ayrshire.

Only Prestwick, Prestwick St Nicholas, and Troon are older. The original course was a 9-hole layout situated on the links around the Sandyhills area of Stevenston. Although the course is no longer in existence, the original red sandstone clubhouse still stands today. In 1905, the club relocated to the Ardeer area of Stevenston, opening a new course on April 8th of that year.

This course was a true seaside links, situated in the dunes between the town and the sea. Notable members of Ardeer Golf Club include Hamilton McInally, the Scottish Amateur Champion of 1937, 1939, and 1947, as well as Jackie Cannon, the oldest winner of the Scottish Amateur Championship in 1969 at the age of 52. The club is also associated with two British Open Champions, Jamie Anderson and Willie Fernie. Anderson won the Open Championship three times and Fernie was the designer of the Ailsa course at Turnberry.
