Prior to yoga, they were an active person who participated in various forms of exercise, such as Tabitha and insanity classes, as well as running and cycling. However, they found themselves searching for a practise that would provide muscle manipulation and relaxation, without the need for massages.
Upon the recommendation of a friend, they decided to try hot yoga and instantly fell in love with the practise. After only one class, they felt amazing, with their muscles stretched and their body completely relaxed. They experienced a full body detox and walked away feeling like they were floating on air.
This transformative experience led them to consider a yoga getaway for their upcoming summer holiday. However, they soon realised that a week-long vacation wouldn't be enough. They wanted to truly connect their mind, body, and breath, and share this incredible feeling of bliss with others. With the idea firmly planted in their mind, they made an impulsive decision to enrol in a one-month intense yoga teacher training course in India.
As they embarked on their journey to India, they quickly realised that the word “intense” was an accurate description of their upcoming experience. Their days started at 5am and ended at 10pm, with a packed schedule of learning and practising yoga. Despite the intensity, they felt incredibly fortunate to be part of a small group of only six students, allowing for personalised attention and guidance.
During the course, they were exposed to a wealth of knowledge and teachings. They learned about various aspects of yoga, including Kirtan, Satsang, meditation, and the philosophy of yoga. They also gained a deep understanding of anatomy and how the human body works, as well as the principles of teaching yoga classes and inspiring others. The course was conducted not only in English but also in Sanskrit, an ancient Indian language, adding a rich cultural dimension to their learning.
While the course proved to be challenging, they felt grateful for the opportunity to meet influential teachers and learn from their decades of experience. They left the retreat with a newfound appreciation for yoga and a desire to share their knowledge and passion with others.
