Amala Yoga Shala is a welcoming yoga studio located in South Golden Beach, Australia. With a passion for authentic yoga, the founder, Emma, aims to create an inclusive space where individuals of all levels can practise and explore the ancient teachings of yoga.
With decades of experience in the Iyengar tradition, Emma's classes are designed to cater to beginners as well as long-term practitioners. She also incorporates her training in Akhanda Yoga, Yin yoga, and Sanskrit Mantra, making her classes diverse and well-rounded. Each session includes a combination of asana (poses), pranayama (breathwork), mantra, philosophy, and meditation, creating a holistic and transformative experience for students.
What sets Amala Yoga Shala apart is Emma's deep knowledge of Ayurvedic principles and the body, which she seamlessly integrates into her classes. She is also a gifted singer and often includes beautiful chanting and harmonium playing during meditation, adding a unique and blissful element to the practise.
The studio's weekly schedule includes a variety of classes to cater to different needs and preferences. On Tuesdays, the Hatha Relax class offers a gentle and relaxing wind-down session with guided relaxation. The Early Morning Flow class on Wednesdays is a more invigorating class that encourages students to connect with their breath and open their hearts. On Wednesdays, there is also a Beginner/Slow Pace class held at the private Ocean Shores Yoga Shala, which is limited to 8 spots and requires booking in advance.
The Traditional Hatha class on Thursdays provides a comprehensive 1. 5-hour practise, incorporating mantra, pranayama, and guided relaxation. Finally, the Saturday morning class is designed to awaken and refresh the body, with the option of taking a dip in the ocean afterwards.
Emma, the founder of Amala Yoga Shala, is not only a skilled yoga teacher but also an Inner Medicine Coach and Ayurvedic Yoga Therapist in training. With her extensive experience as a teacher, surfer, and musician, Emma brings a unique and holistic approach to her classes. She believes that by empowering women to connect with their joy and Divine essence, positive change can be brought to the world.
As an empath and highly sensitive person, Emma excels at holding a compassionate and heart-centred space for her students. Her intuitive listening skills allow her to see what's truly going on for her clients, even when they might not be able to see it themselves. With a focus on embodying yoga and Ayurvedic practises, Emma aims to support women in realigning with their values and creating a present and peaceful life.
