Led by Jan Bowen, the Studio Director, and her husband Peter, Alderley Pilates was founded in 2002 with the vision of creating a peaceful sanctuary for clients to practise the Pilates Method. Alderley Pilates offers small group classes with a maximum of 12 clients per class. These classes are graded into five levels, ranging from Level I Beginner to Level 5 Advanced, allowing individuals to work at their own pace and progress through the levels at their own discretion. The studio also provides private lessons for one to four clients, which can be customised to meet specific fitness objectives and incorporate both Pilates matwork and machines, particularly Pilates Reformers.
The studio caters to a diverse clientele, providing classes for clients of all ages, from mid-teens to those in their 80s. If you are new to Pilates, no specific level of fitness is required. However, for group classes, it is recommended that you are capable of getting on and off a mat on the floor unassisted. To begin your Pilates journey, it is advisable to book a private lesson as an assessment and to determine the appropriate class level for you, possibly starting with Level 1 Beginners or Level 2 Improvers. If you have previous Pilates experience, the studio welcomes a discussion to determine your suitable class level.
Alderley Pilates teaches the Body Control Pilates (BCP) method and considers BCP teacher training to be the gold standard in Pilates teacher education. Moreover, the studio's premises are utilised for BCP post-qualification teacher training, ensuring that its teachings focus on precise and flowing movement, adhering to the highest standards of instruction.
