Welcome to the website of Aikido Lanaudire, Joliette. Aikido is a Japanese martial art of self-defence that is non-violent yet highly effective. This effectiveness stems from simple principles such as non-resistance, harmony, concentration, energy circulation, and the development of Ki (internal energy). Aikido Lanaudire practices a flexible and fluid form of Aikido, drawing its dynamism from energy circulation and techniques inspired by Ki developed by Koichi Tohei. Successful Interaction: We are constantly in interaction with ourselves and others. Aikido helps us succeed in physical interactions by defending ourselves against attacks while applying principles of harmony, energy, and rhythm. The noble goal of Aikido is to assist us in succeeding in the various interactions of daily life.
Energy Development: Internal Energy – Aikido teaches us to better utilize the internal energy resulting from perfect body-mind coordination. External Energy – We must also consider external energy, brought by others. During defence against an attack, Aikido allows us to use this energy optimally. The synergy resulting from the combination of these two forms of energy is Ki.
Harmony: Harmony allows us to succeed in interactions smoothly, without violence or collisions. The principle of harmony dictates that we do not oppose energy but rather use it, adding our own for total success. The Art of Movement: Aikido also teaches us to better utilize our bodies. Integrated into circular or spherical forms, body movements rely on rhythm, breathing, and, most importantly, energy as previously mentioned.
Through dynamic, varied, and graceful movements, we achieve the unification of body and mind. This unification promotes energy circulation that transforms into Ki. Animated by this Ki, positive and constructive movement translates into real effectiveness in both physical and mental self-defence.
