Learn To Dive, the Scuba Diving club in Manchester, is excited to promote the upcoming AIDA 2 Freediving course. This local activity is perfect for those who have already gained confidence in open water and are ready to take their skills to the next level. The course aims to build a solid foundation of technique, knowledge, and safety, allowing participants to enjoy freediving competently within their experience limits. Plus, upon completion, participants will receive a certification by AIDA, which is recognised as the worldwide industry standard for freedivers.
The course spans over 3 days and consists of 2 theory sessions, 1 pool session, and 3 open water dives. It is divided into two parts: the pool & theory section and the open water section. By completing both parts, individuals become fully qualified AIDA 2 Freedivers. However, participants also have the option to become AIDA 2 Pool Freedivers, which grants them access to participate in the club's weekly pool sessions.
On the first day, the course kicks off with theory, either online or in a classroom setting. Following the theory, participants delve into a pool session that covers Static and Dynamic Apnea. Under the watchful eye of our experienced instructors, participants will learn how to ensure safety and perform rescues. Even those who consider themselves experienced swimmers, snorkellers, or scuba divers are often surprised by how much they learn in this entry-level course. It truly goes beyond simply holding your breath.
The second part of the course takes place over two days in open water. Once participants have completed the pool & theory section, they become eligible to join the AIDA 2 Star Open Water section. During this part of the course, divers will have the opportunity to reach depths between 14 and 20 meters, depending on the time of year and individual capabilities. In the unlikely event that a participant does not pass the course, our instructors offer at least one additional day of training at no extra cost before any additional charges are applied. Alternatively, individuals can receive the AIDA 1 Star Freediver qualification, allowing them to embark on their freediving journey.
To be eligible for the course, individuals must be 18 years or older (or 16 years old with parental supervision), have completed a medical statement, and possess the ability to swim at least 200 meters non-stop, and 300 meters with a mask, snorkel, and fins.
The price of the course is £295, which can be paid in increments. An initial deposit of £50 is required, followed by £125 for the pool & theory section, and a final payment of £170 to complete the open water dives. Alternatively, participants have the option to pay the full amount at the start. The price includes all necessary equipment, course materials, and pool fees. Please note that entrance fees to dive sites, if applicable, are charged separately.
